A rock in the river

I am like that rock around which the waters of the world meander. I watch them flow toward me from a distance and I grow hopeful. Perhaps one will finally notice me and halt in its flow. But each time they arrive, they wrap around me, unaware and unconcerned, then leave as quickly as they had come. This seems to be my eternity.
