Intrigue

I find it absolutely intriguing that a human being can believe, with total conviction, in something that he can neither see, nor feel, nor hear, nor understand – essentially, a no-thing. But I do not mean by this statement to derogate anyone or any group, I really don’t; I just find it very intriguing. The human mind, that is. No other animal is capable of having such an untenable belief. And we take this belief so far, that our lives are molded around it. In everything we do, we see that ethereal figure working in the background, spilling fortune into our hands and smoothing out the creases of cunning fate. How ever, I really must know, have we come to such a point? To such an establishment which no one really questions. Is the fear of the great unknown too great for the meager man?
